The Role:
The Offshore Engineering Team supports Offshore energy projects from initial conception through development, procurement, construction and into Operations and Maintenance. Delivering successful projects from initiation to realisation requires a multidisciplinary development team in which engineering plays a significant role.
Due to increasing workload we are looking to expand the engineering capabilities of the offshore department by recruiting a CAD Technician. You will be a member of the Offshore Engineering Department and will work with other teams as required to support the design work needed at different phases of a project.
Main Duties using AutoCAD:
Produce Concept Design drawings to support site selection
- Front End Engineering Design drawings to support project definition and procurement
- Develop 2D Engineering Design drawings from Engineers calculations
- Production of multi disciplined Engineering drawings
- Checking of 2D drawing output
- Ensure all work complies with company procedures and standards
The subjects of these design drawings may include:
- Structural steelwork
- Secondary steelwork
- Subsea and Land Cable Routes
- Construction and Marine Operations
- Personnel access systems
The role may require some travel within the UK and Europe.
It is an office-based role but with possible occasional visits to offshore installations and / or working at heights.
The Person
This role would suit a CAD technician with experience in structural, electrical, process or marine engineering although applicants from other engineering disciplines will also be considered. Previous experience of the offshore sector, electrical generation and/or knowledge of the wind industry would be strongly advantageous.
The successful candidate will be required to demonstrate that they have the following capabilities:
- Proficient in AutoCAD for 2D design
- Control of Design information and the Design process
- Solve problems and perform duties with minimal supervision
- Operate independently within a team framework
- Willing to travel occasionally to client sites UK or overseas
The following attributes are desirable:
- Technical / Engineering ONC / Technical apprenticeship or equivalent in an Engineering environment
- Experience working within a deadline driven environment
- Knowledge and experience of AutoCAD for 3D design
- Knowledge and experience of design and fabrication of large steel structures
- Knowledge and experience of design and methods for heavy-lift operations
- Knowledge and experience of marine operations
- Knowledge and experience of design and/or construction in the coastal or offshore sector;
- Knowledge and Experience of design and/or construction in the electricity generation & distribution sector
- A current UK/EU driving licence.
