The Client: A leading European utility company.
The Role:
- Establishing and maintaining a centre and network of technical excellence for key systems and components related to Wind Turbines.
- Being point of contact and providing specific support during project development, construction and operation to all regional teams especially to solve operational issues. Implement turbine inspections.
- Developing and maintaining technical standards and guidelines in the dedicated technical areas together with regional teams and other internal organisations forming the basis for e.g. project procurement specifications or operational procedures.
- Analyzing and technically assessing new turbine models and other relevant new products or systems, review of turbine concept, design and operational records.
- Establishing and maintaining a network of internal and external experts in the dedicated technical areas.
- Supporting procurement teams in the turbine selection and definition of technical contract documents.
- Providing technical expertise to and representation of the company in national and international standardisation and certification organizations.
The Candidate:
- A good degree in mechanical or electrical engineering or equivalent with extensive technical experience and expertise.
- Experience within the wind energy environment particularly in the conceptual design, commissioning, inspection and maintenance of wind turbines and components (drive train esp. rotor, gearbox, generator, pitch, yaw…), working with an operator, manufacturer or engineering company.
- Ability to work conceptually as well as performing detailed engineering work and to write specifications, standards and guidelines in certain areas.
- Experience in turbine analysis (concept, design, operational records).
- Good knowledge of IEC 61400 standards and turbine certification processes
- Ability to develop, apply and maintain standards and best practice to gain competitive advantage.
- Experience in specifying, negotiating and managing projects
- Ability to understand commercial issues.
- Experience in international project teams and business
- Good interpersonal skills leading to high level results within an international team.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate and work effectively with various project teams and internal/external partners.
