Central to talent management is the question of whether there is a specific bundle of practices that if applied will deliver superior outcomes and, if there is, what it might look like. Given the close linkage between TM and the VRIO model this question is complex and yet unavoidably important in defining strategic contribution. Thus this module explores what might constitute the development part of that bundle and the extent to which it might be defined by best fit, or best practice. For example, why the role of key individuals is driving the growth of coaching, who benefits from such practices and what might constitute good practice.
The module covers the following areas: Leadership, executive education, strategic thinking, coaching and training. As such it starts to pull together the relationships between theoretical debates and the practice of TM in organisations at a strategic level.
