Executives talk endlessly about business strategy. However, few can define what they mean by strategy, are able to differentiate strategy from tactics, or lead the development of new strategy.
This module will teach you the fundamentals of what is business strategy, provide you tools to be able to develop it yourself and take part in discussions of strategy with other executives. It covers grand strategy, financial strategy, marketing as strategy, organisation as strategy, linking strategy to context and translating strategy into operations. The module draws upon thinkers such as Porter & Mintzberg, applied models from consulting firms, whilst making use of case studies to bring the subject to life. The module uses well known case studies and practical group work to ensure that the application of theory to practice is effective and participants leave with a new level of strategic thinking ability.
